We flew and got here by 4 PM. First thing we did was hit Eric’s pool and wow, that was nice. The Mojave Desert was pretty hot. Eric decided on a back route into the LA basin that avoided all the traffic.

Anyway, thanks for a superb trip and thanks for turning us on to Don. What a pleasure he is to ride and hang with. I’ll send his knit cap to the Sundt office as soon as it is ready.

We made it back by noon. it was hot in Phoenix 100 degrees. It was a great trip. I would have to rate it right up with the best of the best.

Thanks, again, for a really superb ride! The campfire camaraderie, the mind blowing scenery, the hearty meals, and the many laughs shared really added up to be one of my best rides ever. I’m already looking forward to next year’s ride!

Glad you guys made it back to LA safely. I had a great time, as well, guys. It couldn’t have been better! True to my word, my tent went directly into the trash. I’m on the hunt for one that smells better now so thanks for the web link, Scott. I’ll burn a CD of my photos & get them off to you soon.

Editor’s note: In what may be turning into a post-ride ritual for Paul, he has arrived back home and very shortly thereafter, he has purchased another motorcycle. From a wide field of excellent sport touring bike candidates, (Honda VFR800, Honda CBR1100XX, Triumph Sprint ST, Suzuki Bandit, Yamaha FZ-1 and others), Paul opts for a 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S which is now referred to as the “Bandito”. — Scott

It would be great to have you join us for a Reg Pridmore track day this Fall at Willow Springs. Along those lines, here’s the update on the FZ-1. Took her in for new sprockets and chain. Stainless lines in front with race pads, WOW!

Pulled the carbs again and went over them with a fine tooth comb. Had borrowed the spec manual from the local race shop. Apparently ‘someone’ had tried a ‘do-it-yourself jetting’ in the past and messed up the pilot jet and needle jets. Replaced everything back to stock and modded the main jets per Holeshot.com. Made some adjustments on the carb needles and the floats and fine tuning the mixture screws, and WOW! Now she runs like she is supposed to…Much better down low, strong with a small surge at 7000 and pulls like a freight train ’til the limiter kicks in. Actually, I’m afraid to get on it too hard in first gear as the front end shoots straight up easily.

Replaced the front part of the wiring harness and the relay and now the speedo, tach and fuel gauge are accurate as well. Must have been the relay or some short in the old harness.

Officially, she is ready to meet the Bandito!
